Everything customers ask before ordering. Straight answers, no marketing fluff. Can’t find what you’re after? Email us and a real person will reply.
A custom portrait of your photo, made as a watercolor or hand-drawn style painting and printed on archival fine-art paper or stretched canvas. You can pick unframed (poster), framed under glass, gallery-wrapped canvas, or a solid-wood frame in natural oak or matte black.
Whichever you pick, it’s made just for you and printed in our own studio, never drop-shipped.
Think of it as painting, but with pixels instead of brushes. Our team works manually with digital painting tools (placing strokes, mixing colours, balancing the composition) to recreate your photo as a watercolour portrait.
We may use AI for the occasional quick fix (background cleanup, a colour reference, an early layout sketch), but what you receive is not an AI-generated image. The painting is made by people, with the speed and precision modern tools allow.
Posters: 230 gsm acid-free matte fine-art paper, printed with archival pigment inks rated to last 100+ years without fading.
Canvases: 280 gsm canvas, stretched over solid wooden bars. Frames are real wood: natural oak or matte black. Every piece is printed and quality-checked in our studio before it ships.
Depends on where it’s going. 8 × 10″ is a sweet little keepsake or a desk piece. 11 × 14″ and 12 × 16″ are our most popular: confident on a wall but not overwhelming. 16 × 24″ and 24 × 32″ are statement pieces, lovely on canvas above a couch or bed.
If you’re unsure, the size guide on the product page shows each one to scale against a sofa.
They’ll be close, but not identical. Every screen renders colour a little differently, and printed inks behave differently from backlit light. We calibrate our printers carefully and we’ll send you a digital proof so you can see roughly how it’ll look, but a small shift between screen and print is normal, and is part of how art prints work.
Almost certainly yes. We’ve turned blurry phone snaps, scanned 1980s prints, and photos taken of other photos into paintings people love. If yours genuinely won’t work, we’ll tell you up front, and we’ll happily start over from a different one, no charge.
All workable. Dark photos can be brightened in the painting; slight blur often softens beautifully into watercolour; phone screenshots and photos of other screens usually come out fine.
The only photos that genuinely don’t work are the ones where we can’t see the subject’s face at all, and we’ll always tell you before you’ve waited a week.
Yes, one of our most common requests. Upload your main photo, then tell us what to bring in from where: “keep my dad from photo 1, add my dog from photo 2, drop the cluttered background.” We’ll bring it all together in the proof.
Yes. Remove an ex, add a pet who couldn’t make the shoot, take out the bus stop in the background, swap a dreary sky for a warm sunset. All part of the job.
Tell us what you want in the notes box at checkout, or reply to the proof email with changes.
Yes. The photo you upload for your order is used only to make your painting. We never publish order photos in marketing, on social media, or in advertising.
Only photos you choose to post publicly (in a review or by tagging us on social) might appear in our marketing later. Full details in our Terms of Service.
JPG, PNG, or GIF, up to 20 MB per file. Higher resolution is always better, but anything from a recent phone or a normal digital camera is more than enough.
Yes. We email you a digital proof within 1–2 days of getting your photo. You can approve it, ask for changes, or tell us where to push it. Nothing prints until you’ve signed off.
Reply to the proof email with what to change, as specifically as you can: “warm her cheeks a little,” “remove the lamppost on the left,” “make the dog’s collar red.” We’ll send a new proof within a day or two.
As many as it takes to get it right. We don’t put a number on it. The only time we’d push back is if a change is genuinely outside the scope of your original photo (adding a whole new person, swapping the entire scene) or if the rounds become contradictory, and even then we’ll talk it through with you.
In practice, most orders need one or two small tweaks at most.
If we haven’t started design work yet, email us right away and we’ll do our best to refund. Once design has started or a proof has been sent, the order is in production and can’t be cancelled, but you have all the revision power above to make sure it lands right.
Everywhere in the US: all 50 states, plus US territories where our carriers deliver, plus APO/FPO military addresses. We don’t ship internationally yet.
A typical order is proof (1–2 days) → production after you approve (around 3 days) → transit (3–6 days for most of the US, longer for Alaska, Hawaii, and remote areas).
West Coast (Washington, Oregon, California, Idaho, Montana): usually a week, door to door. Northeast or off the contiguous map: plan for closer to two weeks.
A tracking number lands in your inbox the moment your order ships. We mostly use UPS or FedEx, and USPS for PO Boxes. You can follow the package the whole way.
It can, but plan ahead. The safest move is to order at least three weeks before the date you need it, especially around big gifting seasons (Mother’s Day, Christmas, Valentine’s Day). If your date is tight, email us before ordering and we’ll tell you honestly whether we can make it.
Expedited shipping is also available after your proof is approved, starting at $15.
Carefully. Posters ship flat with rigid stiffeners; canvases ship boxed with corner protection and extra padding; framed pieces ship in custom cartons with glass-safe cushioning. We pack every order the way we’d want our own to arrive.
Not yet. US only for now.
Credit and debit cards (Visa, Mastercard, American Express), PayPal, Apple Pay, Google Pay, and Amazon Pay.
We can also take e-check / ACH on request, but those orders don’t begin until the payment clears (usually 3–7 business days), so we don’t recommend it if you’re in a hurry.
No surprises. Standard US shipping is free. Sales tax is added at checkout where we’re required to collect it. Frames, gift wrapping, and expedited shipping (if you choose them) are itemised before you pay.
Absolutely. Enter the recipient’s address as the shipping address and we’ll send it straight to them. The order confirmation still goes to you.
Yes, there’s a checkbox on the product page for tissue-wrapping plus a handwritten card from you. $10 extra, and it looks lovely on arrival.
Tell us what to change. Revisions are free and we’ll keep going until it’s right. See the proofs & revisions section above for the details.
Email us within 72 hours of delivery with clear photos of the damage, the packaging, and the shipping label. We’ll reprint and reship, or refund (your choice, within reason).
Once the carrier formally confirms it’s lost (not just delayed), we’ll either reprint and reship at no cost or refund you.
Because every painting is custom-made just for you, all sales are final. The revision process is how we make sure you’re happy before we print. The few narrow exceptions are on our Refund Policy page.
Email [email protected]. A real person reads every email and we usually reply within a business day. Include your order number if you have one.
Pick a size, upload a photo, and your proof lands in 1–2 days. If you don’t love it, we paint it again. That’s the deal.
